Job Title: Senior 3D Character Artist
Location: Remote, work from home in the US or UK only
Position Type: Full-time (40 hours)

What’s the Job?

Uplift Games is the studio behind Adopt Me, the premiere pet adoption game on Roblox (33B+ sessions, 1.92 million record CCU). We are a small team with a huge community, so to push the limits of scale and quality, we are expanding our studio.

We’re looking for a talented Senior 3D Character Artist to join our studio.  You will show strong skills with creating 3D/2D artwork and have a good knowledge of games development. You must have a can-do attitude and be eager to learn new methods and techniques to achieve the results required on the assigned project. You will work closely with other team members and departments, ensuring ideas are professionally presented and realised in-game.

It is essential that you value diversity and want to work alongside talented people from marginalized groups. We are explicitly a trans, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC / BAME, and disability-positive team, and you will be an active supporter of all team members.

This is a remote position open to candidates who are based in the US or UK and can demonstrate eligibility to work in those countries.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Model and texture high quality 3D Character assets.
  • Concept creative ideas for new in-game Characters that fits into our wider product goals and themes.
  • Work alongside our existing 3D artists to push the limits of the Roblox platform in innovative ways.
  • When necessary, help improve workflows, techniques and content pipelines to help you and other artists create better art.
  • Ensure all assets are beautiful, fit within our established art style and have an acceptable level of performance across PC, Mobile and Console platforms.
  • When necessary, implement your assets into the in-game environments to create seamless and immersive play experiences.

Your Background

These are the things candidates really should have but can make up for in other areas. If you’re missing one or two, consider applying anyway, especially if you belong to a marginalized group.

  • 5+ years experience as a 3D Character artist within the games industry, or a similar industry.
  • Skilled in C4D, Blender, Maya or your preferred equivalent.
  • Skilled in Photoshop or your preferred equivalent.
  • Experience with Substance and Photoshop.
  • Able to produce quality work in both high and low poly art styles.
  • Empathy and perspective. You are an excellent listener and are able to filter feedback in a non-reactionary way that takes into account multiple perspectives.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to form positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • You excel in small teams and self-managed environments.
  • You value diversity and want to work alongside talented gender-expansive people, women, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC / BAME, and neuro-atypical people.

Bonus Points

These are things that can improve your candidacy, but none of these are necessary to apply.

  • Experience working with Roblox Studio.
  • Experience in Z-Brush or sculpting software equivalent.
  • A Bachelors of Art or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working in a distributed / remote team.
  • Experience working on a free-to-play service-based game.
  • Skilled at sketching, and other 2D art skills.
