Job Title: Associate Producer (Localization)
Location: Remote, work from home in the US or UK only
Position Type: Part-time

What’s the Job?

Uplift Games is the studio behind Adopt Me, the premiere pet adoption game on Roblox (35B+ sessions, 1.92 million record CCU). We are seeking an Associate Producer to join our team, with a strong focus on Localization.

As Associate Producer you will assist the Production team by primarily handling all text in the game and assigning these to our team of regional translators in a timely manner. You will also assist Producers with creating and handling Jira cards, updating any related documentation and selecting and working with vendors across the world to ensure high quality localizations. As we continue to release updates each month, you’ll help make sure any new strings are localized into all of our supported languages, along with providing general associate support for the Production team in general.

It is essential that you value diversity and want to work alongside talented people from marginalized groups. We are explicitly a trans, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC / BAME, and disability-positive team, and you will be an active supporter of all team members.

This is a remote position open to candidates who are based in the US or UK and can demonstrate eligibility to work in those countries. We envisage that this will be a part-time position, and are open to agreeing hours with the successful candidate. The salary ranges shown below are full-time rates and will be pro rated to working hours.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Manage localization projects and requests coming in from different stakeholders from inception to completion.
  • Manage all in-game text including exporting to the localization framework.
  • Make sure that source text and images are suitable for localization and are ready for assignments in a timely manner.
  • Work with producers to discuss roadmaps and deadlines, ensuring that new updates are fully localized where necessary. Help test your localizations.
  • Update/keep track of all upcoming releases using JIRA or other tools.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to make sure that text and translations are delivered according to the agreed due dates.
  • When necessary, work with other team members to localize text (e.g for regional social media posts, subtitles, news posts and other text).
  • Monitor and handle the administrative side of projects, from reviewing freelance translators invoices to word count tracking and vendors’ availability.
  • Document and maintain Production team processes and workflows.

Your Background

These are the things candidates really should have but can make up for in other areas. If you’re missing one or two, consider applying anyway, especially if you belong to a marginalized group.

  • 1+ years of experience in a production and / or localization role.
  • A proven track record of helping to deliver high-quality product in a timely manner
  • Excellent organisational skills as well as time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Experience working with external vendors and reviewing their progress / quality.
  • CAT/TMS experience preferable.
  • Empathy and perspective. You are an excellent listener and are able to give and receive feedback in a candid but respectful way.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to form positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • You value diversity and want to work alongside talented gender-expansive people, women, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC / BAME, and neuro-atypical people.

Bonus Points

These are things that can improve your candidacy, but none of these are necessary to apply.

  • Experience with Roblox/Adopt Me.
  • A background in languages/translation work and an understanding of localization best practices. You are able to spot the common mistakes in the field.
  • Experience working with an international remote distributed team, communicating online across many time-zones using Slack and voice chat.
  • Experience in the games industry, working with games-related brands and products.

Request Supplementary Documents

  • A copy of your CV / Resume
  • Optional Cover Letter: Briefly explain why you want to work at Uplift Games
