Job Title: Development Assistant
Location: Remote, work from home in the US only
Position Type: Full-time (40 hours)

What’s the Job?

Uplift Games is the studio behind Adopt Me, the premiere pet adoption game on Roblox (33B+ sessions, 1.92 million record CCU). We’re looking for a Development Assistant to help assist with various development tasks. In this role you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to prepare and release high quality content. This is a fluid role, and an exciting opportunity to grow with broad exposure to all aspects of game development in a live studio environment.

It is essential that you value diversity and want to work alongside talented people from marginalized groups. We are explicitly a trans, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC / BAME, and disability-positive team, and you will be an active supporter of all team members.

This is a remote position open to candidates who are based in the US and can demonstrate eligibility to work in their country.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Import and set up game assets for a variety of updates involving various game systems in Roblox Studio.
  • Prepare and release various content updates to production.
  • Input data for any relevant assets or items into our databases and any relevant external trackers, often interacting directly with our codebase.
  • Update and maintain economy values, images, descriptions, localization entries etc. for various assets and products.
  • Identify blockers and friction within the asset management pipeline, making recommendations for how we can improve efficiency for everyone in terms of process and tooling.
  • Support ad-hoc engineering tasks including bulk data entry, simple refactoring, information gathering from QA on bug reports and other miscellaneous tasks.
  • Document process, best practices, nuances, etc., on our company wiki, ensuring our processes are simple for others to understand.
  • Become a ‘go-to person’ for questions relating to the above, a useful resource who can help others save time and get to where they need.

Your Background

These are the things candidates really should have but can make up for in other areas. If you’re missing one or two, consider applying anyway, especially if you belong to a marginalized group.

  • Experience in Roblox Studio, including writing Lua code, importing assets and setting up environments.
  • 1+ years of experience in a professional work setting.
  • Experience inputting data as code into codebases directly. You don’t need to be an expert programmer, but you should feel comfortable editing a large array/dictionary/table in code or inputting into XML, JSON, or similar data-oriented structured markup / files.
  • You are passionate about making sure things are “done right”, catching edge cases and generally helping others with the things they need.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. You are not only a great presenter but also an empathetic listener.
  • You are self-directed and able to manage both your own workload and that of your team in a remote environment.
  • You value diversity and want to work alongside talented people from marginalised groups. We are explicitly a trans, LGBTQ+, BIPOC / BAME and disability positive team.

Bonus Points

These are things that can improve your candidacy, but none of these are necessary to apply.

  • Experience working in a game studio.
  • Experience with Games QA, playtesting, bug reporting, technical support or other trackable task-based problem solving style work.
  • Process requests for data from our data systems to support updates. Compile data into relevant docs or reports on request.
  • You play or have played Adopt Me and understand the types of updates that we ship.

Request Supplementary Documents

  • A copy of your CV / Resume
  • Cover Letter: A brief overview of why you want to work at Uplift Games
