Job Title: Head of Art
Location: Remote, work from home in the UK only
Position Type: Full-time (40 hours)

What’s the Job?

Uplift Games is the studio behind Adopt Me, the premiere pet adoption game on Roblox (33B+ sessions, 1.92 million record CCU). We’re looking for an experienced Head of Art to work with our Creative Director in developing the artistic vision for Adopt Me.

You'll lead our Creative team of 8+ talented 2D artists, 3D artists and animators, providing line management, mentorship and also hiring to grow the team. Working directly with both our Creative Co-founder and Game Director, you’ll develop our creative roadmap and strategy and have the opportunity to create an outsized impact on many millions of players while operating in a small studio where every person plays a major role.

Since our team members are spread across the UK and US, you will be experienced in creating a strong sense of fun, trust, unity and belonging in remote and asynchronous teams.

It is essential that you value diversity and want to work alongside talented people from marginalized groups. We are explicitly a trans, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC / BAME, and disability-positive team, and you will be an active supporter of all team members.

This is a remote position open to candidates who can demonstrate eligibility to work in the UK.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop our creative roadmap and strategy in collaboration with our leadership team.
  • Line manage and mentor our creative team.
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard a diverse and talented team of artists.
  • Learn Roblox, understanding the nuances of the platform and Roblox development workflows.
  • Champion best practices and technical excellence. Introduce smart tools, techniques, processes, and software patterns to minimize debt / inefficiency and to maximize impact.
  • Work closely with our Consumer Products approvals team on the development of Adopt Me toys and merchandise
  • Apply your expertise to evolve and develop the Adopt Me style guides and creative vision.
  • When it makes sense, create alongside your team to build context and to support your team’s education.

Your Background

These are the things candidates really should have but can make up for in other areas. If you’re missing one or two, consider applying anyway, especially if you belong to a marginalized group.

  • Signifcant, demonstrable experience in a creative role, with a strong emphasis on Games.
  • 5+ years experience in a lead / manager role, with a preference for art management.
  • Experience building and scaling a creative team.
  • Strong proficiency in colour theory, 3D spaces/modelling, 2D art and animation.
  • Experience with the Adobe suite (or equivalent software) - particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, as well as experience with Maya (or equivalent software)
  • Excellent communication skills, you are an empathetic person able to support and raise up your coworkers.
  • You value diversity and want to work alongside talented people from marginalised groups. We are explicitly a trans, LGBTQ+, BIPOC / BAME and disability positive team.

Bonus Points

These are things that can improve your candidacy, but none of these are necessary to apply.

  • Experience with Roblox, the Roblox Studio IDE or the platform in general.
  • Experience with concepting, vis dev for games or game-like products.
  • Experience with UI frameworks in games.
  • Experience with creating motion graphics (e.g After Effects or equivalent).
  • Experience with print materials and 2D work for physical use cases.
  • Experience with rendering.
  • Experience working on large scale live service products, particularly games.
  • Experience working on products for young audiences.

Request Supplementary Documents
