Job Title: Localization Project Manager
Location: Remote, work from home in the US or UK only
Position Type: Full-time (40 hours)

What’s the Job?

As Localization Project Manager you will help localize Adopt Me into target languages, selecting and working with vendors across the world to ensure high quality localizations. As we continue to release updates each month, you’ll help make sure any new strings are localized into all of our supported languages. Adopt Me is already a global game, but there is huge potential for you to help grow Adopt Me (and future projects) in more regions, providing many more players the opportunity to enjoy it.

It is essential that you value diversity and want to work alongside talented people from marginalized groups. We are explicitly a trans, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC / BAME, and disability-positive team, and you will be an active supporter of all team members.

This is a remote position open to candidates who are based in the US or UK and can demonstrate eligibility to work in those countries.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and implement our localization process, working with our Engineering team to integrate Roblox with your preferred localization tools.
  • Select and work with vendors across the world to localize Adopt Me (and any other products) into target languages. Cover additional languages over time.
  • Work with producers to discuss roadmaps and deadlines, ensuring that new updates are fully localized where necessary. Help test your localizations.
  • Work with producers and designers to ensure any UI elements are suitable for localization.
  • Work with stakeholders to build a localization plan that targets languages based on data and experimentation.
  • Introduce review processes that ensure our localizations are high quality.
  • When necessary, work with other team members to localize text (e.g for regional social media posts, news posts and other text).

Your Background

These are the things candidates really should have but can make up for in other areas. If you’re missing one or two, consider applying anyway, especially if you belong to a marginalized group.

  • 3+ Years of experience in localization roles. A proven track record of delivering high quality localizations for products.
  • Experience working with external vendors, selecting the right partners, and reviewing their progress / quality. You know the going rates and what to look for when outsourcing.
  • Roblox has a built-in Localization system that can export/import CSV files. Experience with these sorts of tables is expected.
  • Empathy and perspective. You are an excellent listener and are able to give and receive feedback in a candid but respectful way.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to form positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • You excel in smaller teams and don’t want to be “micro-managed”. The freedom to make your own decisions about what to work on and how to work excites you.
  • You value diversity and want to work alongside talented gender-expansive people, women, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC / BAME, and neuro-atypical people.

Bonus Points

These are things that can improve your candidacy, but none of these are necessary to apply.

  • A background in languages, including direct translation work. You are able to spot the common mistakes in the field.
  • Experience working with an international remote distributed team, communicating online across many time-zones using Slack and voice chat.
  • Experience with international distribution for a global brand.
  • Experience in the games industry, working with games-related brands and products.
